Pain and Pain Symptom Management 3-hours

Course Objectives:

1.   Analyze the prevalence of chronic pain, the various groupings of pain, and the financial burden to the United States.

2.   Describe regulation of controlled substances.

3.   Identify the different guidelines on pain management.

4.   Classify commonly prescribed controlled substances used for the treatment of pain, their abuse potential, and overdose deaths.

5.   Summarize the treatment guidelines for pain management, proper storage, and the disposal of controlled substances.
