Understanding your California Nursing License Renewal
All nurses in the state of California who wish to maintain an active license are required to complete 30 contact hours of continuing education for each license renewal. These courses must be taken through a continuing education provider recognized by the California Board of Nursing. Continuing Education for California Nurses
A licensee within the first 2 years of holding their license, must complete 1 hour of direct participation in an implicit bias course. For subsequent renewals, 30 contact hours of continuing education (CE) are required for license renewal.
