When do you renew your California nursing license?

Your first California nursing license is issued for two birthdays NOT two years, and will expire the LAST DAY of the month following your birth date. After that date, it will expire every two years in the same month.

What CE is required to renew my California nursing license?

All nurses in the state of California who wish to maintain an active license are required to complete 30 contact hours of continuing education for each license renewal. These courses must be taken through a continuing education provider recognized by the California Board of Nursing. Renew Now CE is a provider recognized by the state of California, Provider ID CEP17292.

California legislature passed Assembly Bill 1407, requiring implicit bias training for all new nurses.

According to the California Board of Nursing, beginning January 1, 2023 a licensee within the first 2 years of holding their license, must complete 1 hour of direct participation in an implicit bias course offered by an approved continuing education provider. Verification of approved educational providers can be done using the DCA License Search.
