MI LARA CME Requirements
MI LARA has specific CME requirements:
- Michigan CME Package (ACCME accredited): This package includes three required courses: Implicit Bias (3 hours), Medical Ethics (1 hour), and Pain Management (3 hours).
- Category 1 Programs: Earn a minimum of 60 hours from MI LARA-approved Category 1 programs.
- AOA Approval: In addition, 40 of these hours must come from American Osteopathic Association (AOA) approved programs.
Additional Requirements for DEA-Registered Physicians:
- Furthermore, DEA-registered physicians must complete an 8-hour training under the MATE Act to manage patients with opioid or substance use disorders. This training is required only once.
License Renewal Cycle:
Physicians are required to renew their license every 3 years. It’s important to note that 150 total CME hours are needed for renewal.
