Frequently Asked Questions

Does this package meet the full Nevada RN and LPN continuing education requirement?

It provides all 30 contact hours required every 2 years, including the 4-hour cultural competency mandate from an NSBN approved course and the 2-hour SB 439 HIV stigma training. The only Nevada requirement not included is the one-time 4-hour bioterrorism course.

Is the cultural competency course on the Nevada State Board of Nursing approved list?

Yes. Nevada Cultural Competency for Nurses 4 Contact Hours was approved by the Nevada State Board of Nursing, which is required for a course to count toward the cultural competency mandate.

Do all Nevada nurses need the SB 439 HIV stigma training?

SB 439 applies to nurses who provide or supervise emergency services in a hospital or primary care setting, who must complete at least 2 hours within 2 years of starting that work. Other nurses can still count the 2 hours toward their 30-hour total.

What general courses are included?

The Obesity Epidemic and Nutrition (10 hours), Heart Failure Management (6 hours), Cannabis (3 hours), Pain and Pain Symptom Management (2 hours), Human Trafficking (2 hours), and Ketamine, Esketamine and Treatment-Resistant Depression (1 hour).

Can I complete the courses in any order and over time?

Yes. Each course is self paced and independent. Complete them in any order, and your certificates are issued one course at a time as you finish.

I am a new graduate. Do I need this?

New RN and LPN licensees are exempt from the 30-hour requirement for their first renewal, but must still complete the cultural competency course and the one-time bioterrorism course. The 6-hour mandatory package may be a better fit.

Is this package accredited?

Yes. Renew Now CE is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation, Provider P0557. The Nevada State Board of Nursing accepts ANCC-accredited contact hours.

How is each course completed?

Every course is 100 percent online and self paced. Read the material, complete the self-check questions, pass the post-test with a score of 70 percent or higher, and complete a short evaluation. You have unlimited post-test attempts.

When do I receive my certificates?

Each certificate is available for immediate download as soon as you pass that course's post-test and complete the evaluation. Keep copies in case the Nevada State Board of Nursing audits your continuing education.

Is this reported to CE Broker?

Nevada does not currently use CE Broker for nursing license renewal, so you will keep your certificates for your own records. If you also hold a license in a state that requires CE Broker reporting, Renew Now CE will report your completions there.

How much does the package cost?

The package is $49 as a one-time purchase with no subscription required, which works out to well under $2 per contact hour.
